If you're trying to watch by casting to your Samsung Smart TV, using our mobile Android app, but the Android can't "see" or connect with your Samsung TV, here are solutions to the most common issues:
- Devices are not on the same WIFI network
- Permissions not granted
- Devices are too old
- Reboot your devices
- Newer Samsung with Chromecast
- Still having trouble?
Devices Are Not on the Same WIFI Network
Your Samsung Smart TV and Android will need to be on the same WIFI network so they can "see" each other. Click here to find out how to check if your TV and android are on the same internet network.
Permissions not granted
In the initial contact between your Android and the TV, there should have been a pop-up to give permission.
If you are having difficulty getting your mobile device and the TV to "talk" please follow those directions from the popup: Menu > Network > Multimedia Device Manager and make sure your mobile device is allowed. If you need further assistance with this aspect, please contact Samsung Support.
Devices Are Too Old
Android
To work with the VidAngel app, your mobile device should be at least Android 8. You'll also want to make sure you have the most updated version of the VidAngel app on your Android. You can check that here: VidAngel on Android
Apple
To work with the VidAngel app, your mobile device should be at least iOS 12. You'll also want to make sure you have the most updated version of the VidAngel app on your Apple. You can check that here: VidAngel on Apple
To cast to a Samsung TV, your Apple device and Samsung TV must be AirPlay 2-enabled. See: AirPlay 2–Enabled TVs and Devices
Samsung Smart TV
Make sure your TV is updated. You can check for updates by going to Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. If that doesn't work, please contact Samsung Support for instructions.
Did you ever see the App Launcher open up on the TV? Your TV needs this service to be compatible with VidAngel.
App Launcher supports devices with a "+" , so Samsung Smart TVs:
- H-series (year 2014) (+)
- F-series (year 2013) (+)
- E-series (year 2012) (+)
Reboot Your Devices
Mobile
Force/hard close the VidAngel mobile app (sometimes said as "kill the app") and then restart your Android.
Samsung Smart TV
You can restart the TV by unplugging it.
Newer Samsung with Chromecast
If the "Send to Samsung Smart TV" option is not working, and you have a newer Samsung TV that supports Chromecast, then please try the "Send to Chromecast" option instead.
